Growing a pineapple head

In October last year, I planted a pineapple head, and it turned out so beautifully a year later. It has grown super big and tall. But now I am getting rid of it.

Before I explain why I am getting rid of it, let me start by showing you how I planted it.

I had an empty pot from a plant dying, and I didn’t want it to stay empty. I took a pineapple head. Let it out so the cut area dries up, and this took about two weeks. You want to keep it about 1-2 week. Enough for the cut to dry but not too long for it to die.

I just used soil, I did not add any fertilizer or organic waste. I planted it, watered it and left it alone.

This is how it looks a year later:

So, why am I getting rid of it? My balcony is not as spacious (I will get back to this point). The tips of the leaves are sharp. Every time I am on the balcony, I have to brush off my plants, and when I brush off the pineapple head, I get a scratch or a prick. And it is only getting bigger, so this will just continue to happen.

I know you have been curious about this; no, I did not find a pineapple grown below 😅.
